With our garden growing for just over one year, I thought I would share some before and after photos to show what can be achieved (and how much plants grow!) in just over 12 months. The summer heat and recent rain has transformed our yard into a jungle.
When we first moved in, there was just a lawn and we had started creating just one small garden bed near the air conditioner.
The yard now, with permanent garden edging put in and lush greenery…
The beginnings of the Heliconia garden, the garden bed and plants had all just been freshly planted…

This was the first garden we planted right after moving to hide an ugly air conditioning unit and gas bottles…

And, we have put in some new garden beds in areas that were originally part of the lawn…
So there you have it! It seems to me everything grows much quicker in the subtropics than other climates. I am pretty pleased with the results.
