About me

Hi, I’m Zac.

I live in the humid subtropical climate of Brisbane, Australia.

I love gardening and nature. I have a garden which I share with my partner on a 760 square meter block in the northern suburbs of Brisbane.

You may be wondering, ‘what on earth does ‘Zacaconia’ mean?

Well, when I first moved to Brisbane, I saw a Heliconia for sale in a plant nursery and thought to myself, ‘I HAVE to grow one of these, it looks so lush and exotic’ (‘Zacaconia’ is my name and ‘heliconia’ put together).

So I started collecting every heliconia I could get my hands on. At one stage, I was growing over 30 varieties.

I welcome you to join me in my gardening journey, where I hope to share more than just heliconias.

On my blog, you will also find my ideas and thoughts on tropical gardening, other types of plants, along with my gardening exploits and journey.

Happy gardening!
