Hello, friend! #beardeddragon #wildlife #reptile I’ve been really good not buying plants recently because, quite frankly, I have too many! 😂 But I just couldn’t go past these Philodendron ‘Prince of Orange’ 🍊 Wow. Just WOW! 😲😍🤩 #philodendron #princeoforangephilodendron #aroids Feeling accomplished after getting some Sunday afternoon gardening tasks done. ✅ Have repotted nearly all of my smaller plants from 200mm to 300mm pots. A lot of my plants are in pots, with the benefits of being portable, ability to control the soil/growing medium, and ability to move plants with specific light requirements to different positions to see how they respond. But pots are especially prone to drying out, and I find the larger size is a little bit better at retaining moisture in dry weather. Something about seeing them all lined up after repotting is particularly satisfying 😂 #containergardening #pottedgarden #gardening A selection of caladiums from our garden… Enjoying them while it’s still Summer (and before they go dormant). Still got a little bit of time left to go until then, but I’m learning to appreciate each seasons’ beauty more (even if we don’t have the conventional 4 seasons here in the subtropics!) #caladium #tropicalplants #gardenlove Up close with the Giant Chandelier Plant (Medinilla dolichophylla x alata), with its delicate flowers. I have been absolutely hopeless at growing medinillas in the past (with several failed attempts), but this one seems to be doing well for me. The key seems to be not allowing them to dry out too much but also having good drainage (Brisbane’s Ekka winds and occasional hot dry days = ☠️) #medinilla #tropicalplants #epiphyte I know I’ve posted a lot of pictures of this plant, but Peggy Garland just keeps getting better and better 😍 #plantlove #gardening #tropicalplants ‘Tropics’ (Heliconia psittacorum x spathocircinata) has to be one of my favourite heliconias… and the only psittacorum I grow in our garden. It’s well behaved with a tight, upright growth habit (all the other psittacorums, will spread and take over a garden bed or escape into lawns, to my knowledge). It’s an extremely vigorous grower, and I just love the colour of the bracts which remind me of a tropical sunset. If you’re trying to grow heliconias outside of the subtropics/tropics and overwinter them inside in pots, this one may be a good candidate due to its vigour #heliconia #heliconias #tropicalflowers 🌱🌺 Panama Hat Plant surprise! 😲 Gardening - and living in Australia - are totally incongruous with arachnophobia. 😂
